Although we’re not expecting snow this Christmas we are expecting a holiday season full of excellent events here in Tucson. From spectacular light displays, buzz-worthy parades and sensational music and dance shows, grab your calendar and schedule in these seven Christmas events to attend in Tucson this year.

  1. Luminaria Nights- December 1, 2, 3, 8, 9 10 @ 8:30pm Tucson Botanical Gardens

Prepare to be dazzled by 2,000 candlelit luminarias and an impressive light show set against the backdrop of the Tucson Botanical Gardens. This family friendly event will feature different local musicians, dancers and performers each night, with food and drinks available reflecting the flavours of Tucson. This event is a tradition for Tucson family and friends and a not-to-miss event on this year’s Christmas calendar.

  1. Holiday Nights at Tohono Chul Park- December 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16 @ 5:30-8:30pm

Holidays Nights is a fun for everyone event celebrating the magic of Christmas with over a million sparkling lights set throughout a garden setting. With hot chocolate or treats in hand meander through the lit-up gardens, taking in musical performances, joining in caroling sessions and star-gazing through high powered telescopes.   1. The Nutcracker Ballet- December 12, 13 @ 7:30pm Fox Tucson Theater

The Christmas classic The Nutcracker Ballet is playing in Tucson at the Fox Tucson Theater mid- December. This magical performance about Masha in a world where toys come to life is a feel-good Christmas performance that must be seen. Featuring the music of Tchaikovsky and the choreography of Marius Petipa this show will inspire dancers and non-dancers alike of all ages.

For something a bit different this lively mariachi show embraces the romanticism of Mexico in a lively performance that’s sure to have you energized and in the spirit. The performers, Sol de Mexico, are a Grammy nominated ensemble offering original rhythms, fresh sounds and rich cultural expression. The cross cultural and generational joy expressed through the mariachi music is especially touching at Christmas time.

  1. Tucson Symphony Orchestra Magic of Christmas– December 16, 17 @ 4:00pm Tucson Music Hall

Come and enjoy all of your favourite Christmas songs and listen to the sounds of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra at this year’s Magic of Christmas event. This is the perfect family-friendly Christmas event with a special appearance from Santa Claus himself and rumor is there will even be snow for the event!   1. 23rd Annual Parade of Lights- December 16th @ 6:30pm Jacome Plaza

No Christmas season is complete without a Christmas parade, this year it’s the 23rd annual taking place in downtown Tucson starting and ending at the library’s Jacome Plaza. See spectacular floats decked out with Christmas cheer and spirit, and of course Santa Clause will be making an appearance.

  1. Chris Isaak Holiday Tour- December 16 @ 7:30pm Fox Tucson Theater
