Do you even live in Tucson if you haven’t watched a basketball game at the McKale Memorial Centre? The venue is regarded as one of the best college basketball arenas in the country. Go Wildcats!
Salt River Tubing
If you’re looking for a fun alternative activity, salt river tubing is the one for you. A great way to cool down and escape the hot Tucson sun, you can rent a tube from Salt River Tubing. You can enjoy this fun college favorite on May 11.
Hike ‘A’ Mountain
If you go to U of A then you must have heard about the tradition of hiking ‘A’ mountain. Did you know? The tradition started back in 1915 when football player Albert H. Condron wanted to commemorate back to back victories over Pomona College. He suggested to his professors that an A should be built in the rock on the side of Sentinel Peak. You can hike up the mountain and get a picture with the “A.”
Snowbowl Summer Activities
You may not think of Tucson as being world famous for its skiing, but the summer activities at the Snowbowl definitely make a fun day out. You can ride the chair lifts to enjoy lots of summer hikes. If you’re picking up some extra cash babysitting, there’s loads of fun to be had for all ages including bungee trampoline, summer tubing and mini ropes course. Summer starts on May 24.
Eat a Sonoran Dog at El Guero Canelo
You must know as a student living in Tucson that the Sonoran Dog is the staple menu item of the area. You can try the Tucson delicacy – a hot dog is wrapped in bacon and infused with pinto beans, jalapenos, mustard, and onions. Any Tucson local will tell you El Guero Canelo is leading the way in Sonoran Dogs- you definitely need to try one from here!
See a show at Centennial Hall
Support your College and your fellow students by catching a show at Centennial Hall. The venue dates back to 1937 and had a capacity of 2,526. You can watch a “UA Presents” performing arts series show. From comedy to Broadway to music concerts, this venue us the perfect place to hang out with your friends or a great date spot.
