School’s back for summer!
Here are some top tips to reduce stress on moving day as you head back to school at the University of Arizona.
Last week, The University of Arizona announced the fall semester will begin as scheduled on August 24, with a mix of in-person and remote instruction delivered via four modalities (In-Person, Flex In-Person, Live Online, and iCourse). The University of Arizona will gradually introduce additional In-Person courses, welcoming students back as quickly as possible, while safeguarding the health and well-being of school campuses and the surrounding community. Free testing is also available for all Tucson residents who are concerned about exposure to COVID-19.
For those of you heading back to school, its time to think about moving day! Here are some top tips to reduce moving day stress as you head back to the University of Arizona for the fall semester.
Arrive in Tucson a day in advance
If you’re traveling from out of town, you’re not going to feel ready to move after a long drive in the heat that same day. We recommend getting a hotel in Tuscon the night before so you can relax and be well-rested for the next day.
Create (and use) a moving to-do list
Moving involves a lot of steps! You want the day to run as smoothly as possible and reduce any possibilities of stress. Having a plan will ensure nothing gets forgotten, help you be as efficient as possible, and help you stay organized amongst all of the action.
Start early
Moving always takes longer than you anticipate, and you don’t want to find yourself hauling boxes into the small hours of the morning when you could be relaxing in your new home. Set an alarm, have a good breakfast, put on a motivating playlist and start your day as soon as you can!
Unpack one box at a time
When in the midst of moving, looking around at all your belongings, from furniture to sentimental knick-knacks, can be overwhelming – not to mention making it hard to track your progress. However, if you focus on one room at a time, it’ll reduce your stress and give you a better sense of achievement!
Dress appropriately
With heavy lifting and what seems like endless trips to and from your vehicle, the move-in process can be labor-intensive. Not to mention the heat – we all know that Tucson summers are HOT! We recommend wearing athletic, breathable clothing, combined with good supportive shoes so that your feet don’t ache.
Stay hydrated!
Keeping your hydration and energy levels up will make your day that much more manageable, and will even help boost morale. There’s nothing worse than trying to stay organized whilst feeling dizzy, dehydrated, and hungry!
